Industry Executive Board Welcomes New Members

The McWhorter School of Building Science Industry Executive Board is a group of professionals, many of whom are BSCI alumni, committed to the discussion and review of industry-related issues facing contemporary construction educators.

The Industry Executive Board (IEB) advises Auburn’s building science faculty on current trends in the industry and how they might be addressed through coursework. At the IEB’s biannual meetings, board members hear from graduating students about their experiences in the program and then give feedback on how the students’ education aligns with the industry.

Once a year, the IEB invites new members to join the board, and this year’s additions are Mike Arasin and Doug Davidson.

Doug Davidson

Doug Davidson is founder and CEO of New South Construction, which he started in Atlanta in 1990. New South Construction is a commercial contractor whose clients include companies such as Delta Air Lines and The Coca-Cola Company. Whether working with large companies or small, New South always infuses its strong values into each relationship, a practice Davidson has instilled into New South’s core values.

Davidson has held numerous community and industry leadership positions, both nationally and locally, during his tenure at New South Construction. He was recently honored with Life Governorship status on the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America Board. Doug has served for 13 years on the national Board of Governors as an Elected Governor. Additionally, he has proudly served on AGC Georgia’s board since 1998 and is a past president of the Board of Directors.

He is an active board member for the Atlanta Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Atlanta Rotary Club. Over the last several years, Davidson has worked to promote the construction industry as a viable career path by supporting construction training programs and job placement of work-ready people through the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA). Still active with CEFGA, Davidson is a past president and current advisory board member.

Davidson received his bachelor’s degree in building construction from Auburn University.
