The Delta Air Lines South Terminal Ticket Lobby reconfiguration project consisted of a complete renovation of the Delta Air Lines ticketing lobby, support areas, and infrastructure at the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Improvements included new kiosks and ticket counters in the public areas of the airport. In back-of-house support spaces, the existing baggage handling system serving this terminal was replaced, along with Delta’s pneumatic conveyance used for processing customer transactions. Mechanical, fire suppression, electrical, and low voltage communications serving the new systems also were required. All of these elements were replaced while maintaining continuous operations.
In addition to the work in the existing building, 20,000 sf of new structure was added to expand the available occupied building footprint. This space was built to accommodate Delta’s Airport Ticket Office (ATO) as well as include work spaces, conference rooms, locker rooms, and break areas for customer service agents. This resulted in an increase in the number of ticket counters available to passengers inside the terminal as well as both lower and upper curb sides.
Flexibility with Delta Airlines’ specific needs to maintain a safe, around-the-clock facility operation was required to maintain construction progress during the reconfiguration.
