The Cherokee County Aquatic Center is a state-of-the-art center featuring enhanced recreational activities and aquatic programming that includes: competitive and recreational swimming, learn-to-swim programs, aqua therapy, aquatic exercise classes and more. This project has a 50-meter national caliber competition pool and a 25-yard indoor recreational pool with warmer water for therapy, exercise, and instruction. Additionally, there is a 10,000 sf outdoor leisure pool designed for family use that includes a vortex aquatic play structure, water cannons, zero-depth entry area with geysers and deck sprays, lazy river, two slides, plunge pools, basketball hoops, and river rapids.
The project site is over 37 acres with a 300-vehicle parking lot. The two-story aquatic center has a metal roof system reaching 50 feet above the pool deck. Inside the aquatic center there are spacious locker rooms and shower facilities, wet classrooms for training and parties, administrative and coaches’ offices, meeting rooms, concessions, lobby space, and a 700-spectator seating area. Residents can use one of the special outdoor pavilions or an indoor classroom to host a pool party.
