The Tennis Complex is a new indoor athletic facility, involving approximately 4.3 acres of site area. This extremely compact property consisted of numerous issues involving unsuitable soils, underground utilities, adjacent existing sporting venues, and construction coordination to minimize costs and carefully review alternatives for providing acceptable solutions. The development included removal of the existing indoor and outdoor tennis facility, the construction of six new outdoor competition courts as well as four new outdoor practice courts and six new indoor competition and practice courts. Scope also included outdoor seating for approximately 500 spectators, with indoor seating for roughly 250 people. The entry plaza provides access to the combined indoor office and team locker facility which includes coach’s offices, team meeting rooms, locker facilities, a training room, and restrooms. The building and associated site development layout allowed the tennis complex to be maintained and developed on its current site as well as allowed students and faculty to utilize the new E/W pedestrian corridor located on the southern portion of the site.
This project is LEED Silver Certified.
